I am in deep financial crissis. Thus, my phone connection is dead for last two eweeks as the bills were outstanding.
I could not be contacted while my dear Brother Mr Chitta Ranjan Raha expired.
On first April, his mother, ill for yrs breathed last. The next night never saw the next sun rise as on 2nd april Chittya Da , finalising the last rite formalities broke down. During his last time , he tried to gat me on phone, as Sudha Da,his elder brother told me on phone weeping and crying constantly.
Chittya Da was the second generation Refugee leader in Uttaranchal. He led the 2001 Bengali refugees` movement for domicile certificate. He had been the town area chairman and the President of Uttar Pradesh Uttaranchal sanyukta Bangali Kalyan samiti. He was in office as the chairman of uttaranchal Fishery Corporation and was enjoying a deputy minister status.
He was the promonent Bengali Congrees leader in Uttaranchal.
It is a great loss for the Bengali refugees in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarancal as the refugees are fighting to defend their bonafied Indian citizenship and their movement for reservation and the right to learn mother language , continue on.
I had been involved with the family fro childhood as Sudhada and Chittada`s Uncle lived in our village, they were regular visitors at home.
My Father Pulin Biswas groomed chittada as a leader as he was the most honest and energitic youngman. Both the brothers were also loved by Uttaranchal chief Minister Mr ND Tiwari since sixties.
Chittada had never been in a college as we enjoyed the higher education. Sudhada did BSC Ag from Pant Nagar University but could not manage a job. Chittada had to support the family working as a helper in a cloth store. In late seventies he entered politics and never looked behind.
I met Chittyada during my last visit to Uttaranchal in december 2005 and talked to him on different issues. He had some very positive plans which have not to be implemented now.
I could not console Sudhada, by nature a Sannyasi, who had tod do nothing in family affairs.
Neither I may console myself as I am unable to follow the path shown by my committed father. Chittada was following my Father but we have lost him.
